It seems like months ago that I was taking my qualifying exams. I spent months preparing for them and walked out of the test feeling quite confident that I passed. A few days ago I got an emailing saying that I had passed and that I could come by and look at how the individual questions were graded if I like.
In the end I got a 92% on the exam. I got 100% on all the questions but one which was written by an older faculty member who is notorious for being difficult. He took off a few points because I failed to answer the question completely but he also took of points for grammar and spelling (which is something no other faculty member did seeing as how we only had 3 hours to write around 10 pages single spaced). On this question I got 12/20 which I’m fine with because honestly I think his research is antiquated, esoteric, and boring and I honestly didn’t spend that much time preparing for his section anyway.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that I passed and I’m just one step closer to getting out of school.
