Actually I am listening. Listening to my music that is. Something I can now do on any computer in the world thanks to a great service I discovered called Lala.
Lala; unlike other websites that let you stream music, lets you listen to whatever you want whenever you want, you can create playlist for later listening.
The way it works is after you create your account you upload all of your music from your computer to Lala’s servers (don’t worry the music stays on your computers). Then Lala matches the songs you’ve uploaded to the songs in their catalog. Anything you’ve uploaded that they have you can then listen to for free on any computer with a web browser. If you want to buy more music lala will sell you songs for either $0.10 or $0.89 depending on what you want. For $0.10 you can listen to a song as much as you like from the website but you can’t download it and put it on a portable device. The $0.89 price tag grants you the right to download the song and do whatever you want.
I’ve been waiting so long for a product like this to come along. I find myself frequently changing which computer I use as my primary computer and keeping my music collection up to date on all my computers (home, work, laptop, etc) is hard and I frequently end up losing music. Now all I have to do is upload my music to Lala and its safe.
I don’t think you can download music from lala that you’ve uploaded so it doesn’t replace your music collection it just makes it extremely portable.
Lala, I’m totally listening!
